Total

Target: 56 / 51 / 41 / 36 with 0 / 1 / 2 / 3 oudlers. Score = (25 + difference) × contract (prise 1, garde 2, garde sans 4, garde contre 6) ± petit au bout (10 × contract) + handful (20 / 30 / 40) + slam (400 / 200 / −200). Each defender pays that score to the taker. · Full rules: combiendepoints.fr/en/games/french-tarot/

How to fill in the sheet

Write the first names across the top in seating order, starting with the first dealer: the deal rotates, and knowing who deals avoids arguments. For each deal, note the taker, the contract (P, G, GS, GC), the number of oudlers and the taker’s points, then each player’s score with its sign. The taker scores three times the amount with 4 players (twice with 3), the defenders the opposite.

Check the line before moving on: it must add up to zero. For the total, add up each column at the end of the round, or keep a running total in pencil under each score. With 5 players, the partner scores half of what the taker scores; write “alone” in the taker column when they play against four.

Bonuses go in the “Contract” column: “PB” for petit au bout (prefix it with “def.” if it is the defence’s), “20”, “30” or “40” for a handful, “slam”. Sixteen lines make four rounds with 4 players.

Counting as you play

In Tarot the classic mistake is not in the rule but in the addition: the handful gets multiplied, the defence’s petit au bout is forgotten, a sign is flipped. The good habit is to call the calculation out loud in order: “two oudlers, forty-seven, six over, thirty-one times two, sixty-two, petit au bout, eighty-two”. And to count the defence when it has fewer cards: 91 minus its points gives the taker’s.

The counter does that calculation for you: taker, contract, oudlers, points, and it shows everyone’s score before you confirm, with the formula spelled out. It keeps every deal, lets you correct the last one, tracks the dealer and checks that the line adds up to zero.
