A game of Wizard at our table.

How to fill in the sheet

Write the first names across the top in seating order. The round number is also the number of cards dealt. Cross out the lines you don’t need for your number of players: the game ends after round 20 with 3 players, 15 with 4, 12 with 5, 10 with 6.

Before playing, write everyone’s bid under “Bid”. At the end of the round, write the points: 20 plus 10 per trick if the bid is made, −10 per trick off otherwise. The simplest way is to keep a running total small in the points box, since scores can go negative.

If you play with the Cloud, write the corrected bid next to the original one (“2 → 3”); with the Bomb, circle the round number as a reminder that there was one trick fewer.

Counting as you play

In Wizard, the most common mistake is forgetting the 20 base points of a bid made, or counting −10 instead of −10 per trick off. Saying the sum out loud (“bid 2, 2 tricks, 40”; “bid 3, 1 trick, minus 20”) settles it. Also check that the tricks add up to the number of cards in the round.

The counter does all that for you: it takes the bids in order, assigns the last remaining trick, works out the points, handles the “bids may not add up” variant and the Bomb and Cloud cards, and keeps the full grid of the game, with each player’s percentage of bids made.
