How to fill in the sheet
Ten rounds, from 1 to 10 cards. In each box, first write the bid, a slash, then the number of tricks actually won (for example “2 / 2” or “0 / 1”), and underneath the round score. Bid made: 20 points per trick, plus captured bonuses (10 per coloured 14, 20 for the black 14, 20 per mermaid captured with a pirate, 30 per pirate captured with the Skull King, 40 for the Skull King captured with a mermaid). Bid missed: −10 points per trick of difference, no bonus. Zero bid: 10 points per card in the round if made, −10 per card if missed.
Write the running total small under each score; after round 10, the highest total wins. If you play with Rascal’s scoring, a missed bid scores 0 (or half the bid when off by one, with Cannonball): write it at the top of the sheet so the two systems don’t get mixed.
Sample round 5
| Player | Bid / tricks | Calculation | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emma | 2 / 2 | 2 × 20 + 30 (pirate captured with the Skull King) | +70 |
| Nico | 0 / 0 | 5 cards × 10 | +50 |
| Pat | 2 / 3 | 1 trick off × −10 (the yellow 14 bonus is lost) | −10 |
| Lea | 1 / 0 | 1 trick off × −10 | −10 |
Pat captured a 14 but missed the bid by one trick: the bonus doesn’t count. Nico makes a zero bid in round 5: 50 points, more than Emma’s two tricks without the bonus.
Mistakes to avoid on paper
- Counting a bonus on a missed bid.
- Scoring the zero bid at 20 per trick instead of 10 per card in the round.
- Forgetting Harry the Giant: the effective bid can change by ±1 after he is played; write the corrected bid.
- Check the sum of tricks in the round: it must equal the round number (5 tricks in round 5), Kraken aside.
