Misses

A single pin is worth its number, several pins are worth their count. You need exactly 50: going over, back to 25. Three misses in a row eliminate (or back to 25, depending on the table). A leaning pin does not count. · Full rules: combiendepoints.fr/en/games/molkky/

A game of Mölkky at our table.

How to fill in the sheet

Write the first names (or the teams) across the top in throwing order. For each throw, write the points under “Points” and the new total under “Total”: both, always, so you can find a mistake later. A miss is written as 0 under “Points”, the total does not change, and you add a cross in the “Misses” line at the bottom; at the first point scored, cross out the crosses.

Going over is written the way it is called: “54 → 25” in the total box, so that everyone can see where the 25 comes from. Below 50, pencil what the player needs next to their total (“42, needs 8”): it is the best way to avoid the unlucky 12 pin.

In teams, one column per team is enough; the teammates alternate and the score is shared. Twenty lines cover a game to 50; for a game to 100, use two sheets or the right-hand column.

Counting as you play

Mölkky is counted out loud, and that is half the fun: the thrower calls, the table checks. The two mistakes that keep coming back are the cluster of pins counted by their numbers (three pins make 3, not the sum) and the forgotten return to 25 (the sheet says 54 while the player is on 25). Calling the total after every throw settles both.

The counter does the arithmetic for you: you tap the fallen pins on the pitch map, it shows the score, the new total, the return to 25, the misses and the pin to aim for when the finish is within reach. It also keeps each player’s average per throw and number of 12s.
